A Heart of Shadows is the fourth book in this delightful series by mesmerizing author, Emily Vainglory. With captivating characters, a heart pounding storyline full of twists and turns and a searing passion to keep the reader hot, this is truly one of the best so far in the series. Ms. Vainglory captivated this reviewer from the first page when she reintroduces the characters from the first 3 books. With old friends around, Griffin interacts beautifully with them as his visions grows darker and he is more bitter than ever after watching his friends fall in love and find their true loves. With the many twists and turns throughout the book, this author keeps the reader on their toes as they try to figure out if Griffin can do the one thing to save his friends lives: take the life of an innocent he is falling for. With the broad sweep of her pen, this author captures the angst and turmoil that Griffin feels and delivers them beautifully throughout. With the introduction of a man with motives unclear, Griffin finds himself at a crossroads and must make a decision that will either destroy his friends and their lives or the life of the one man he is coming to care about. Throw in an evil sidhe and some great passionate sex; you have the makings of a soul stirring story that will surely capture the imagination from beginning to end. One word of warning, it may not be for everyone as it does have some m/m aspects that may be offensive to some.

A Heart of Shadows is definitely one of those can’t put down books that will deliver a wealth of reading satisfaction within its pages. Ms. Vainglory is a captivating author and has surpassed herself with the fourth book in this series. This reviewer is highly looking forward to more in this series and also suggests that you read the first three in the series (Knowing Patrick, The Pilgrims Heart, and A Heart Aflame) as well to get the back story on their romances as well. With all the great elements of a wonderful story at the readers’ fingertips, get lost in the Maewyn’s Prophecy series and enjoy Griffin’s Story.
