Jack and Anne
Morgan may have divorced two years ago, but their hearts are still
struggling to deal with the separation, as is their seven year old
daughter, Katie. Anne wanted a husband that was devoted more to her and
her family than to his career, and Jack found himself struggling to be
that man.
Two years after
their divorce, Jack finds himself incapacitated and paralyzed on his right
side, and unable to work, or fend for himself. Against her better
judgment Anne bring Jack home to help him regain his mobility, and his
self esteem. Jack still cares very for much for his wife, and finds
himself pushing himself to health to regain more than the life he wasted
on his career.
The second novel in
the Harlequin Everlasting Love Series, FALL FROM GRACE deserves to
be nominated as this reviewer’s favorite book for the year. This novel is
packed full of so much emotion that it is hard to imagine that Kristi Gold
told her story in just two hundred and ninety-four pages.
Jack is a man on
top of the world until he has a sudden stroke and is left wounded and
depressed. His come back is remarkable, less than a year later he returns
to his position as a heart surgeon, something that while it may seem
unlikely, the emotions that drive him to succeed make his story believable
and come alive on the pages.
Anne’s feelings of
betrayal cause her to ask Jack for a divorce, but the love she has for him
does not dim. Her love draws the reader to hope for the couple to
reunite, and live happily ever after. This reviewer loved the scenes
involving both Jack and Anne along side their daughter Katie.
FALL FROM GRACE
focuses around Jack and Anne, but the secondary characters move the story
along and keep the reader hopeful until the end. Delia, Anne’s mother is
a great mother-in-law who wants not only her daughter and granddaughter’s
happiness, but she respects and cares enough about Jack to help her
daughter see past his faults, to his good qualities.
This is one of the
books that deserve to be read over and over when life gets you down. This
series romance is an epic tale of love, betrayal, and forgiveness. This
is the ideal novel for romance readers who need realism, as well as
readers of woman’s fiction.
