Aaron Lowell
gatecrashes a Halloween party of one of society’s socialites in search
of some food. With all the humans dressed up, he can freely walk around
to find the human blood he needs once a month for sustenance. Animal
blood takes care of him for the rest of the month. Then he meets the
hostess of the party and passion, lust and bloodlust take over. Thing
is, while he is taking his fill of the lovely Deb Stein, she bites him
and tastes his blood. Soon after, Deb is pronounced dead, wakes up in a
coffin and when she gets out is greeted by Daniel, Aaron’s mentor who
fills her in on what’s happened. Deb’s whole lifestyle is about to
change. She needs to find a place to stay, a job. She’s never worked
in her life and has no idea what she could do. She finds strange new
friends and is looking forward to kicking the ass of the vampire who
changed her. However, when she meets Aaron again, all she really wants
to do is kiss is luscious lips.
When reading a
book from Lizzie T. Leaf, the reader can be sure of one thing. A
rollicking great read that will keep a smile on her face. Ms. Leaf
gives her readers a great heroine. Deb, a rich socialite who finds
herself as a vampire among the homeless and not a Jimmy Choo in sight.
This reviewer loved reading how she changes from a spoilt, rich girl to
a caring, friendly person who never does quite get rid of her hunger
for...shoes! But who could? Aaron is also a great character. Ms. Leaf
infuses her vampires with feelings. If there is no heart or breath,
there are still feelings and Aaron, although he mostly stays away from
Deb and her wrath, realizes that if he did have a heart, it would beat
faster for her. There are also a lot of secondary characters that give
the story depth and challenge the hero and heroine from Rat, Deb’s new
best friend to Daniel, the enigmatic. This reviewer can recommend this
great read and is always happy to see a new release from this talented
author.
