Australian
billionaire Peter Ramsey is disillusioned about women and love, after
several gold diggers have tried to capture him. When he stops to allow a
group of children to cross the road, the young woman with them he
believes is a pre-school teacher catches his eye.
For Erin Lavelle,
Peter is a knight in shining amour, especially when he diffuses a sticky
situation while taking a break in the park. Sadly she soon learns
Peter’s amour is rusty and his attitude toward women something she can’t
live with.
After two days of
delightful companionship and sizzling sex, they are both disappointed in
the others attitude. Erin and Peter are both keeping secrets that when
revealed cause distrust. When he treats Erin as if she’s only after his
money, she doesn’t tell him she’s pregnant.
The plot is
beautifully constructed, leading the reader into a complex tale with a
twist. Secrets and half truths lead the characters to a
misunderstanding, and the loss of a relationship that had felt good.
Both hero and heroine are stubborn by nature, but still likeable. Their
own internal conflicts keep them apart, and they make some surprising
choices, motivated by their past’s events. The conflict is viable and
easy to understand in this refreshingly different tale of disillusioned
lovers.
The setting and
mood was interesting and the pace of the story was maintained
throughout. The story has plenty of depth and the love scenes were well
thought out and not over emphasized. The ending was plotted well and
gave this reviewer a feeling of satisfaction. Ms. Darcy has written
another story that her fans will enjoy.
