Morgan
O’Malley is the host of Turn Me On, a late night cable program
which explores all aspects of sexual life and is directed both toward
committed couples and the newly dating. She makes a trip to meet Master
J, a Dominant, in hopes of having him come on the show for an interview.
Their meeting is
interrupted when bullets fly at her, indicating that the stalker she has
been hiding from has found her again. The man she had an appointment with
is not only a Dom in his private life, but also a bodyguard by
profession.
All of Jack
Cole’s instincts to protect are
brought to the fore when the woman he is meeting with comes under attack
by a sniper. He hustles her away from danger to a place he can keep her
safe. His intentions, however, are not pure.
When it becomes
clear that Morgan is a submissive in denial, Jack
is determined to help release her from her conservative bonds so that she
can embrace her wildest desires. Even as they discover that they are soul
mates, their world is threatened not only by the stalker on the loose, but
by a bitter deception for a very cold dish.
Our hero is
manipulative, vengeance minded and alpha male on the one hand, and all
confounded attraction, need to protect and burgeoning yearning for his
soul mate on the other. His sex appeal and ability to arouse and ferret
out hidden fantasies make him a devastating lover.
The seduction of a
rather reluctant Morgan is done on a grand scale and we are given a blow
by blow account of exactly how
Jack achieves it. It is often an
emotion filled account. Trust is a central issue in Domination and
submission. There are times when the reader will feel that our hero has
fallen and yet he manages to redeem himself in the heroine’s eyes.
Some sexual
inhibition can be explained by the heroine’s upbringing and lack of very
much experience in terms of this day and age. It did feel a bit strange
that such a woman would be hosting a show that would focus on sex. All
the same, Morgan is a compelling heroine and we gather our hopes that
there will be some way for all to end happily.
Secondary
characters are drawn with detail and they add humor to the storyline; the
latter deals far more with Jack and
Morgan’s
relationship than the mystery of the stalker. Happily, there is also
indication of a worthwhile friend of the hero starring in a story of his
own.
