Astoria Blair, aka
“Tori” as her friends know her, definitely marches to a different drummer.
She isn’t just your run of the mill thief, she is the product of a deviant
agency, the Center for Evolutionary Medicine (“CEM”). With senses that go
beyond acute, she is able to slip in an out of situations before anyone
knows she is truly there. But her skills go beyond what the Center has
“gifted” her with. She is one of the seven sisters of the Pleiades and
holds the programming implanted by the Anaz-Voohri to eventually destroy
life on earth.
Mythos operative
Marcos Devante knows what he wants and when he wants something, he wants
it now. While he owns his own business and is dedicated to the research of
non-lethal weapons, his membership in Mythos and his assignment Astoria
Blair call on him to go above an beyond. Torn between his assignment to
end her life and his growing feeling for her, Marcos final decision will
affect not only his life but that of the entire planet.
DESPERATE MEASURES
by Esther Mitchell is a well-written stand-alone book in the Operation
Pleiades series and as with all of the books can be read out of order
should the reader so choose. Each story is unique, yet intertwined with
the others in this absorbing series. It is fun to be reading along,
enjoying one author’s talent and, suddenly a character from one of the
other stories pops in, giving the reader the feel of being on the inside
and part of the action.
If you are a fan of
science fiction and/or military suspense, Ms. Mitchell is a do not miss
for your bookshelves. DESPERATE MEASURES is one of the “I can’t put
this book down” reads.
