Sir Gideon Landor
was an English prisoner in Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island, home to the
fortress of a Bonapartist. Meeting Delphine Dalgeigh, he thinks she is a
Paris trifle with not a thought in her head and as useless as a doll. To
Delphine, Sir Gideon is one cold man and she despises his double agent
treachery! But these two will discover that first impressions can be wrong
and in the midst of the Peninsular War, these two strong willed yet
secretive people will have to keep their wits about them as well as hide
their hearts in order to survive the war and defend their dangerous
secrets. Can Gideon and Delphine crack their own THE CODE OF LOVE
as passion takes over them? Or will war destroy them both in the end?
THE CODE OF LOVE
is a deliciously told story
by Ms. Sawyer. Full of intricate details, complex characters and lush
settings, she captures the reader’s imagination from the beginning to the
end. With a slow build up, this reviewer found, at times, that the
beginning was almost too slow yet once Ms. Sawyer set up the storyline and
introduced the reader to the characters, she went off with a bang and it
felt like a roller coaster ride with many twists and turns to gasp in ahh
over! Full of rich detail, this author did a great job in keeping it
historically accurate with a little creative license thrown in as well.
THE CODE OF LOVE
introduces the readers to Sir
Gideon Landor, a double agent who is betrayed to the French Legion. With
an arrogant yet seductive personality, Ms. Sawyer captures his confusion
and soon his fascination over the exquisite Delphine. This reader at first
wanted to choke the life out of him when first introduced to him but he
grows on the reader as you get deeper into the THE CODE OF LOVE.
Delphine Dalgleish is a wonderfully crafted heroine with secrets of her
own yet she is drawn to this ice cold man, who invokes such feelings in
her that soon passion explodes between them amid the danger of war and
espionage. Ms. Sawyer captures this character’s split personality and
makes her the best person to go toe to toe with Sir Gideon. Highly
combustible, the sexual tension is stretched to almost the breaking point
and this author captures it beautifully in this epic historical story!
This reviewer felt
this is truly a great book to read if you have time to sit and read it
thru slowly and completely. If you enjoy lush epic adventures, set in
exotic settings and complex characters, then THE CODE OF LOVE is
definitely for you! |
