NANNY MAKES THREE
Joan Kilby
Harlequin SuperRomance
August 2007

Paperback
Contemporary Romance

When Melissa Cummings finds herself almost running over a young boy she is compelled to stop and find out if he is okay, and why he was in the middle of the road.  She comes face to face with Diane and her two children that appear to be vacationing in the middle of nowhere.  Finding out they are running from an abusive husband and father makes Melissa determined to help them in any way she can…even at the expensive of finding her new career.

Gregory Finch needs a nanny for his four year old daughter, Alice Ann.  He is an attorney and a pig farmer, but he doesn’t know how long he can continue to balance their life without help.  Alice Ann’s mother is dead, and she needs a woman’s influence in her life.  When Melissa mysteriously comes driving up his driveway, he thinks she wants to apply for the position, but she turns him down flat, only to rethink her decision and come back the next day asking for the job.  While he is unsure of her abilities, his daughter has already formed a bond with Melissa and Gregory is unable to tell her no.

NANNY MAKES THREE is a book filled with love.  It begins with a mother who loves her children enough to leave her lavish lifestyle and strike out on her own when she fears for their safety.  The secondary characters make this book stand out as a love filled book, while the main characters find their own versions of love and come together as a great couple.  Gregory is a handsome man, who is serious and devout to those he cares about.  Melissa is an impulsive and easily influenced woman, but it takes her charm and light hearted attitude to bring Gregory to fall in love.

Joan Kilby creates wonderful scenarios that lead her characters into binds and blunders that will leave eyes watering – both from tears of laughter and tears of sadness.  She manages to combine both humor and emotion in NANNY MAKES THREE and to leave readers wanting more.  One downfall on this novel was not meeting Constance, a secondary character who was on vacation, I suspect she would be an amazing woman, and as a reader hope to read her story someday soon, as well as the story of Callie, Josh and their mother, Diane as they find a new life.

This is the second novel this reader has read by Ms. Kilby in as many months, and she is a talented author from the Harlequin family.  She has a successful history with Super Romance tales, and her novel, WHEN LOVE IS TRUE from the Everlasting Love line, was a spectacular read.
