Jamie Whitfield
appears to have it all; a big apartment in “the Grid”, three loving
children, a great job as a news producer, and a reputable attorney for a
husband. She has everything money can buy… well almost. Her nine-year-old
son Dylan is having trouble coping and could benefit from his father being
more involved in his life. What’s a mother to do when she needs a role
model for her son? Hire a Manny of course.
Jamie feels
uncomfortable paying a man to “play” with her son, because his father
can’t make the time, but she goes ahead and hires Peter Bailey anyway.
Life is getting
crazy in the Whitfield house. Jamie’s husband keeps locking himself in his
study, there’s a political sex scandal at work, but there’s one constant
thing in her life, Peter.
Peter seems to be
everything Jamie imagined for Dylan, so why is it she finds herself drawn
to him too? Why is it so important that he like her? Will Peter
become the permanent replacement for the Whitfield family?
Wow! THE MANNY
is a laugh out loud riot. Ms. Peterson gives you a hilarious view
of how the rich live. The best part of this book is that it shows readers
money can’t buy you love or happiness.
This reviewer was
impressed with the heroine, who comes from a small town and struggles with
trying to fit in with her new rich, snobby friends. She tries to be like
them, buying all the nice things they have, hiring help for her children,
but yet deep down she just wants to be the person who grew up in that
small town.
The husband was
portrayed well too. Ms. Peterson shows us how life can be when
married to someone who is married to his or her job. Disliking the father,
Phillip wasn’t hard, as he’s demanding and absent most of the time. He
flies off the handle to his children and can’t find time to be a “father”.
And Peter, the
Manny? Well all this reviewer can ask is where do I get myself one? Every
woman should consider a Manny!
