Cecile is the
daughter of a Frenchman and Bedouin. Her mix heritage has made her an
outcast among the French. After the death of her father, she decides to
head back to her mother’s homeland. It is not such a difficult decision
to make, as her father’s people have never accepted her. There she will
find her destiny and forge a new identity as, Al Dhabi bint Sada. She
meets Matthew Blackmoore who will be the cause of pain and pleasure.
Cecile/Dhiba is a
strong and proud heroine. She is physically and mentally tough. She
meets her match in Matthew who is equally strong and proud. It makes for
a volatile relationship. The erotic connection is very strong between
them. They are a likable couple when they are not butting heads. At
times, this reader wanted to smack them in the head especially with some
of the decisions they made. Any book that can arouse that kind of emotion
is one that should be read.
For the most part,
this reader enjoyed the story. There were parts of it that were annoying
especially the communication issues between the lead couple. Of course,
if they had communicated then most of the problems would have been
solved. Also, be aware that multiple wives are part of the storyline so
if you don’t like your hero to have more than one spouse then this is not
the book for you. However, the author does resolve the issue very
nicely. CALL OF THE TRUMPET is a sweeping historical romance. It
takes the reader to an exotic land with different customs. There is
plenty of action as it is a fast-paced story that will leave the reader
breathless and wanting more!
