In the second part
of this incredible story, we find Joel Biggs, an adult at the end of his
rope. He spends his days in one drunken stupor to the next, hooked to the
bottle, discouraged and doubting his insanity. The only way he can find
peace is to return to the 1800’s and find his buddy Mark who was left
behind after their adventure into another time when they were kids. He
found the book which tells of the history of that time and what happened
to The Mystic Clan. When he returns, he brings along a young girl to
share his adventures. A girl who is going to change his life for the
better. Going back means facing a time of dark dangers, brutal violence
and death. It means that Joel will not only have to face the hardships
and adventures of the day, but he will also have to face himself.
This is a wonderful
sequel to this truly great story. The reader will get to know Joel even
better and will find out how he copes with himself as a person and how he
learns some very life changing lessons. Again, these three authors have
collaborated to bring this time period very much to life. They give their
readers multi-dimensional characters and a plot that is exciting as well
as breath taking. Lovers of time travel will certainly have in their
hands a book that will find a permanent place on their keeper shelves.
Although the story is quite brutal in parts, these talented authors have
given it a charm that cannot be resisted and the reader will be turning
those pages to see what happens to Joel during his great adventure. This
reviewer was also very pleased to see that Joel finds love and healing. A
very satisfying read that this reviewer is sure all will enjoy.
