A delightful story,
that worked on many levels as the plot played out.
Della Davis deals
with public relations, but has no idea how to change friendship into
love.
When she learns
photo journalist Luke Brayford, is coming back to town again, Della knows
the pain of unrequited love will begin again. How can she keep away when
her best friend Lyn is expecting her to welcome her brother? Lyn’s parents
are also the closest thing to a family she has had, and they’ve always
been there for her. Suddenly her life is full of minefields, with client
Tom Dermot becoming a tricky and conniving client. Then there’s some bad
news from her doctor, Della’s life has turned into custard.
Luke is battle
weary, but can still stir Della’s senses with his beautiful smile. There
was only one good thing about his home coming, he was minus his wife and
Della was still around. He’s undecided about his future and hopes being
home will change that.
An interesting plot
as the heroine’s hero returns home a changed and weary man. His sexy smile
is still able to make her pulse race, but is there any chance for a girl
like her. This is a hero worthy of the heroine despite never seeming to
notice what’s under his nose, until it’s almost too late. The conflict of
interest is well done, as Luke decides what to do with his life. When he
dabbles in Della’s life, corruption and conspiracy on a grand scale are
revealed.
The secondary
characters are delightful and help make the main plot more interesting.
It’s a tale of willingness to take a risk and risk rejection, or never
know what was on offer. The family scenes gave a positive background to
the h/h story line. The international agency added some interesting
factors, making the tale far deeper and a reminder of those working to
change children’s lives.
