The good news is
that Lt. Jason ‘Jace” Quinn has been rescued from the Areth. The bad news
is that he has no memories of the last five years. This means Jace does
not recall Phoenix or even his wife Lily. Lily knows that she will be
able to physically heal Jace but she is terrified that he will never
remember what they have shared and that their daughter will never know the
love of her father. As she fights to bring Jace all the way home, the
rest of humanity struggles to stay alive during the Areth attacks.
Just when this
reviewer thought that the Phoenix Rebellion could not get any better, Ms.
Delaney comes out with the latest installment GAINING GROUND. This
book has to be the best futuristic romance that this reader has ever read
as it could happen. Ms. Delaney has made this possible future all too
real which adds greatly to the terror of the tale.
Despite the lofty
goal of Phoenix, the men and woman are just people struggling to survive.
They have their fears and weaknesses. Readers will find it easy to
empathize with all of the characters, possibly even seeing themselves in
one or two of them. What really makes them heroes is their willingness to
persevere despite the overwhelming odds, to push aside their fears for the
greater good. These characters are ones that will stay with the reader
for a long time.
