Man
has always wanted to control the weather. When Andrea loses her father
during a hurricane she dedicates her life trying to find out how to
control and stop these ravishers of nature. When government funding is
pulled from her project, Stormfury, she goes it alone and continues. One
day a real big hurricane appears over the Bermuda Triangle and she sends
out her team to fight it. Things go horribly wrong as the hurricane gains
power and grows uncontrollable. Suddenly, the hurricane disappears,
taking the man she loves with it. For 30 years, Andrea continues her
fight against one of nature’s most devastating phenomena. One day the
hurricane reappears and her team have barely enough time to get out there
with new ideas to stop the hurricane before it heads for the American
coast to cause untold damage.
David
Niall Wilson has created an adventure of a story. Who wouldn’t like to
control hurricanes and get them to become tamer if not disappear
altogether. In this story, Mr. Wilson gives a believable scenario on how
this could work and has written a cast of characters whose main goal is to
fight hurricanes. Andrea is relentless in her pursuit and goals. Since
she lost her father, she works and works. This reviewer found this story
fascinating and she enjoyed it until the end. Mr. Wilson writes good
characters, an exciting plot and good dialogue. There is a nice twist at
the end as the Bermuda Triangle conjures up a lot of possibilities. This
reviewer knows that readers of pure science fiction will enjoy this
story. For this reviewer’s taste however, it was a great story but not a
keeper.
