Sexy waitress Katie Marie Morrison has reached an important crossroad in
her life: after eight long years, she is finally at the point of shaking
the dust of small town life off her feet, graduating from college and
enjoying life as a teacher in Chicago. She has only loved two men in her
life and they both left her behind. Most devastating was the betrayal of
Jeff McAlester, her high school sweetheart, whom she has not heard from in
fifteen years. So who should show up on the eve of their high school
reunion, ready to pick up where they left behind but Jeff? Katie is faced
with a choice: should she resume the love affair of her youth or should
she pursue the future she has painstakingly planned for over the past
eight years?
LEARNING TO LIVE
is the final entry in the Blue Plate Specials trilogy and it is a richly
satisfying one. While less action takes place in Pop’s Diner than in the
other two stories, time line continuity is accurate, as well as actions
taken by characters featured in the other books. Ms. Allison’s tale does
not have the laugh aloud humor that is a part of other entries, but
neither is it full of angst and strong emotions. This reviewer would call
this story amusing rather than comedic, but it still fits the overall
theme of the series. The love story of Katie Marie and Jeff is compelling
and appealing to all those readers who may wonder what life might be life
if they could revisit their first true love. This reviewer highly
recommends this story to any fans of contemporary romance!
