Lord Reynard Devin
de Fauconer has been imprisoned by his cousin who has stolen his identity
and claimed his betrothed for himself. After what seems like an age, a
faithful servant helps him to escape. He kidnaps the Lady Rianna de
Termonde and together they spend weeks dodging Garron’s pursuit and try to
find a place to hide. Lady Rianna was betrothed to Reynard when they were
very young. On the way they also become closer and the attraction between
them fairly sizzles. Garron is being advised by a man who is following
his own agenda. Reynard and Rianna have not only to avoid Garron but a
foe much more dangerous who only wants to have Rianna for his own. Their
journey brings them through many adventures, wolves, carnage and betrayal
lay upon their path. Through all of this, Reynard hasn’t told Rianna who
he really is and the terrible deeds he has done. Can he bring himself to
reveal to her his secret, and if he does, will she still accept him?
When this reviewer
first started this story, she had to giggle a little. Poor Reynard, after
five years of celibacy, had to mostly battle with the blood pooling in his
groin and a raging, bucking hard on. This reviewer thought if he didn’t
get relief soon, it would surely be the end of him. Also, his horse’s
name changed once in the beginning, but this was due more to editing than
the author’s mistake. Other than that, the story soon progress into an
entertaining historical full of adventure. Ms Hyatt has developed an
intriguing plot that twists and turns. Her characters are colorful and
multi-dimensional. This story doesn’t pull any punches. The loves scenes
are sizzling hot, very passionate and romantic. The villain is truly evil
and commits such atrocities. The ending of this story will have the
reader reaching for a hanky and give her some warm fuzzies. After getting
through the first chapters and the battle with the hero’s bodily
functions, this is a story well worth the read.
