Romantic Comedy

Marianne Wilson is totally fed up with her mother’s matchmaking. So when Nick Galanapolous stops by her coffee shop to warn her of yet another attempt with him as the offering, Marianne thanks him nicely and they both agree to bring a date that evening to head the mother off at the pass.  After all, if her mother is going to fix her up she could at least get her type right as she only dates very submissive men who are not interested in sex.  And for some reason she just cannot see Nick fitting the bill.

Nick Galanapolous, a very successful and cynical divorce attorney, is definitely not looking for a woman to settle down with.  He knows all too well what happens when people break down and get married.  To his surprise, he just can not get Marianne out of his mind. Next step is to figure out a game plan to get to know Marianne better and perhaps break down some of her walls.

IT’S ALL GREEK TO ME by Laura Hamby is a delightful tale that just goes to show that sometimes mother does know best.  Due to some horrible experiences with men and sex, Marianne is on her way to born again virgin status.  To protect herself from ever having to deal with sex again she only dates wimps.  And she flat refuses to date anyone her mother chooses.  Nick is a wonderful hero who once he decides that he wants Marianne is willing to take the time and effort to first wear her down about dating him, then has the patience to get Marianne over her fear of sex.  What is truly amusing are the lengths that these two will go to ensure that their mothers do not learn of them dating.

This reviewer did enjoy IT’S ALL GREEK TO ME even though the beginning was slow and slightly confusing.  Once the story picks up however it is hard to set this book aside.  One word of warning, be prepared for the hysterical laughter at some of the mishaps and antics.
