Contemporary Romantica

Rachel is a straight-laced librarian by day, but she spends her nights as “Velvet” the sultry voice behind the 900 number, who teases men over the phone. Rachel knows these men are just looking for a quick thrill, until one caller doesn’t want to hear her play out any fantasies. This caller just wants to hear her talk and talk and talk.

As a joke, Richard calls a 900 number just to see what kind of farce they really are. What he doesn’t bargain on is hearing a voice that captures his soul. Determined to find out all his can about “Velvet” Richard pays for hours of her exclusively.

Is this all just a fantasy game Richard is playing or is it love at first voice for him?

Although the heroine appears straight-laced by day, how can she be if she’s a voice behind a 900 sex number? This little flaw doesn’t steer you away from the story, as Ms. Thompson does a great job pulling you into Rachel’s life immediately. This reviewer found herself wondering what would take place next through every page.

The hero, Richard intrigues you from his first call. He has money to spend and isn’t afraid to use it to reach his goal, Rachel. His persistence to persuade Rachel into agreeing to talk to him exclusively will make you laugh.

A LOVER’S CALL is a quickie, but is oozing with sex. Ms. Thompson delivers another brilliant tale! This reviewer recommends this story, which can be read in one sitting.
