Romantic Suspense/Mystery

Tahlia Edwards has worked long and hard to be taken seriously in the business world. As an up and coming advertising executive, she fights to be viewed as a professional rather than eye candy. On the day that she lands the biggest and most important account of her career, the past comes back to call. When private detective, Jake Randall, shows up questioning her about a ten year-old murder case, the murder of her father and fiancé on Christmas Eve, the emotions she has worked so hard to bury come bubbling to the surface; Tahlia’s world is about to come crashing down around her. She decides that the only way to find the answers to the questions that have haunted her is to return to her hometown, and find out for herself whether her father had anything to do with the murder of her fiancé, Kenny and just what secrets he was hiding. The answers she seeks may be tied to his dying confession but will she have the courage to unravel the truth surrounding the murders before she becomes a victim herself? And what of the handsome and mysterious private detective, is he all he appears to be?

THE CONFESSION by Lori Derby Bingley is an exceptionally plotted emotional roller coaster ride with twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing until the very end. The storyline has a very “Hitchcock” feel and the author was deftly able to sustain the mood and high level of tension and suspense as the plot unfolded. She smoothly blended an air of foreboding and foreshadowed the ever present danger to create a menacing mood without allowing it to take over the characters’ story.  The interaction between the strong and independent heroine Tahlia, and the mysterious hero Jake felt very genuine and the sexual tension between the two keeps the reader on edge. This reviewer was absorbed in the story well past her bedtime. Many of the secondary characters seemed to have some secret or hidden agenda and this reviewer was left wondering what mysteries may need to be solved with them as well.

THE CONFESSION is a well-crafted mystery that pulled this reviewer in from the opening paragraph, and did not let go until the last cyber page was turned. THE CONFESSION is a recommended read for any reader who loves mysteries and romantic suspense. Bravo, Ms. Bingley!
