Be Still My Vampire Heart

BE STILL MY VAMPIRE HEART is a delightful and heart warming tale, one that will be remembered for its quirky characters and interesting plot.

Angus MacKay is a vampire on a mission to catch and stop ‘The Slayer.’ What he had not expected was anything like the sassy woman he finds on the job.

Emma Wallace is out for revenge on all vampires good and bad, after her parents were viciously slain in Russia. She has psychic abilities and her connection to her father showed her how they died.

When Angus shows up as she kills a vampire, her deep seated prejudice does not allow her to believe he could be one of the good guys. He is determined to change her views, especially when he finds himself attracted to her. When someone from his past takes an interest in their activities, they have more than they bargained on to deal with. Kidnapped and taken to Russia, they are expected to die, but it also gives them time to realize how much they want and need from each other.

This is a fast paced action story, with some very amusing moments to lighten the gory parts. It was a page turner for this reviewer, who will look forward to reading more from this talented author.

The characters were diverse and interesting, with a well crafted complexity in their makeup. Angus is a hero any woman into men in kilts complete with sporran and claymore could fancy, although he does have some odd habits. The sassy Emma is a butt kicking girl readers can empathize with, as she goes hunting with her personalized wooden stakes in Central Park. Emma works for a CSI Stake-Out Team, one where the boss also has an agenda of his own. This adds yet another layer of intrigue, betrayal and issues to the plot’s main thread. All the emotions are played out as different characters pop in and out. Ms. Sparks has written a tale that will delight her fans and enthrall new readers.
