Andy Kendricks is
at a “pretty party.” Normally you couldn’t catch her dead at such an
event, but her friend tricked her into going. They are the latest rage
in Dallas. Young debutantes get together for refreshments, gossip and
Dr. Sonja Madhavi and her magic Botox needles. While at the party and
just about ready to leave, Miranda DuBois, an aging beauty queen comes
stumbling into the room, drunk and packing a pistol. She blames Dr.
Madhavi for destroying her looks. Andy calms her down and gets her
home. The next day, Andy drives over the check on her and she’s dead.
The police are sure its a suicide but Andy isn’t. She’s not the only
one and now she’s determined to find the killer.
This is the
second book this reviewer has read about Andy Kendricks and she has
enjoyed this one just as much as the other one. Ms McBride has a flair
for dialogue and her eccentric characters flit around town causing chaos
and mayhem wherever they go. Andrea Kendricks is an amateur sleuth with
charm and humor and an understanding boyfriend. The reader will be
smiling long after she’s turned the last page. This reviewer totally
sympathized with Andy’s opinion about women who try to prolong the aging
process and applauded her resistance to the Botox revolution and even
amongst all the humor, the mystery is very real. This reviewer has
Susan McBride’s backlist on her wish list at Amazon and is eagerly
awaiting the opportunity to pick them all up.
