Sandor Dyle is
traveling on the maiden voyage of a starship which is equipped with an
advanced artificial intelligence system. When the system gets sabotaged
and a murder happens, he has to abandon his role as a tourist and become
a detective. His friend, Marym Dunnis, assists him. Trouble is, there
are too many suspects and not enough information. The murdered man had
a lot of enemies, some of which are on board. Sandor is used to sorting
through information to find his clues but his friend, Marym relies more
on meeting people and watching their reactions. The two of them have
their job cut out for them and it’s not only the information that they
get that helps them, also the information that’s being withheld is
important.
Don D’Ammassa
knows how to keep his readers on the edge of their seats. He has penned
an entertaining story with a myriad of interesting characters. We have
not only humans, but true to all science fiction there are also aliens
and lots of different cultures which Mr. D’Ammasso describes so well
that the reader can take it all in stride. Even if you are not a big
fan of science fiction, if you can get past all the terminology, this is
a very good crime story with lots of red herrings and a wonderful twist
at the end. This reviewer enjoyed it very much and can recommend it.
This is the second in the Sandor Dyle stories and this reviewer would
very much like to read the first.
