This cookbook is a scrumptious grouping of recipes donated by the Changeling Press family.  Proceeds will be benefiting the Save the Quiet Kitty Fund, a non-profit organization which helps uninsured authors with medical needs.

Now, we all knew that the people of Changeling Press could dish up heat, but they have moved it into the kitchen.  Wait till readers see what they can offer there!

This cookbook is a nice mix of everyday, special occasion, versatile basics, international and budget stretching recipes.  The content breakdown lists like other cookbooks with appetizers and dips, beef, chicken, etc.  There are even a few offerings suitable for vegetarians.

You need to crack it open to see the temptations.  Kate Douglas’ Soupa is an unusual soup with a lovely anecdote to begin one off and a list of improbable ingredients following.  Readers are likely to try this one on faith merely for the other elegant offerings the author made to the book.  And speaking of improbable ingredients, wait til you see Ann Jacob’s Neighbor’s Chicken in Cola!  One hears Camille Anthony’s Really Easy and Tart Lemon Jell-O Cake calling from a distance and the lively recipe instructions are bound to make you smile.  For people who have visited Great Britain and now miss the Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas, Cat Marsters gives us the skinny on this guilty pleasure of a meal.

An author or two have included dishes that are part of one of their stories like Judy Mays’ Jingle Buns Dried Cherry and Walnut Strudel Bundles.  What a suitable nosh that would be to go with the read!  Some solid casseroles will make for good family dinners and unusual recipes or ingredients give foodies a novelty bit to try or to wonder over.

The only thing that was a concern was the proofing errors in this book.  One hopes that the future offerings of this kind will be treated more carefully and as we have come to expect from this publisher.

Too many cooks in the kitchen?  Not so with this book.  Get a copy for a great cause and enjoy the benefits in the kitchen and at the table!
