For many years Grania has had dreams of a knight, his family and his life.  Never understanding why, she just enjoyed the dreams and watching the handsome man.  Then she meets him for real.  Don Rafael Perez, who is actually a vampire and is truly the man of her dreams.  He’s the leader of the largest vampire territory in North America and after spending seven tortured centuries as a vampire, he has finally found peace with his subjects and co-workers.  When he meets Grania he feels an attraction as strong as he had for his wife all those centuries ago.  A rival is challenging him and he needs all the protection his guards can give him, and now there is Grania to watch for too.  Rafael may have to break his oath to never help create a female vampire, and if he does, can Grania help him defeat his enemies. 

This is a great read.  A refreshing read.  Diana Whiteside has taken vampire lore and turned it into something different and unique.  Ms Whiteside has written a steamy story that just drips with sexual tension and has great characters.  Grania is a woman who is level-headed and Rafael is  a big, sexy hero.  This is also a dark story with evil pervading throughout and slinking around at every corner waiting to pounce and do its evil deeds.  This story is very dark and gritty too.  Ms Whiteside writes villainous villains who are depraved and evil.  This reviewer thoroughly enjoyed this story and can recommend that if there are any readers out there who have gotten somewhat tired of vampire stories to be sure to pick this one up.  You will not be disappointed at all and it will revive your hunger for the dark, sexy vampire we have all come to love.
