When Darcy Rhodes realizes she is going to be a single mom, she decides to move closer to her mother. Her mother is not a mom she can rely on, but she swears she has changed, and Darcy knows she will need help with the baby. She packs up and starts out but gets caught in a snowstorm. After wrecking her car, she is rescued by a knight in shining armour, Garret Tulane. Garret realizes he cannot leave Darcy stranded and in labor, so he packs her up in his SUV and takes her to the hospital where he works. When she is released after they stop her contractions he cannot leave her alone at the hospital, however they find there are no hotels with vacancies due to the storm hitting the area. Garret does the only thing he can come up with and takes her home with him. Darcy and Garret are exact opposites making them a great hero/heroine. She is vulnerable and scared. He is strong, and capable. She comes from a poor background and has to wonder where she is getting the money for what comes next, while he has a secure future and job. This duo beats around the bush about their attraction until they can no longer deny the chemistry between them. Sometimes love does come in unexpected packages. This book leaves nothing lacking to be a great romantic tale. The book is well written, flows without seams and has a tale that needs to be told. It is simply a heart warming story about what happens when those we fall in love with are not who we would expect. Kay Stockholm just keeps getting better with each novel she writes. This first book in her new series The Tulanes of Tennessee is definitely a keeper! This reviewer will be waiting impatiently for the next book, HIS SON’S TEACHER which will be released by Harlequin Super Romance in July of 2008.
