The Shades.  Achingly beautiful, decadent, feeding on carnality and the lusts of mortals.  For long eons they have lain beneath our world, trapped by the Gods, forgotten by man.  In their prison of stone and crystal they have slept, but now they awake.  Audrey, a mortal woman has stumbled into their cave and Echion and his brethren rise to partake of her, to consume her, to set themselves free to roam the mortal world again.  But as Echion becomes more attached to her, he wants to protect her from those who would force her and feed on her life force.  It isn’t long before he realizes that the cold, hard Shade can love.  He will stop at nothing to protect her and as mortal danger surrounds them, every reflection holds menace.  The trap is sprung. 

This is a very decadent, dark tale that will give the reader shivers and shakes.  Danger stalks poor Audrey who is captivated by the ethereal beauty of the men she encounters and as they take her to carnal heights she’s never imagined, only one of them stands out to her.  In this story, Ms. Gray covers a whole spectrum of emotions, fear, lust, love, sadness and pure evil lurk in the pages of this amazing story.  The reader is taken on a roller coaster of a ride and will certainly feel fear herself for Audrey and Echion.  This story is not for the faint hearted, and the sex scenes are very graphic consisting of Audrey and, well, at least five men.  This reviewer lost count!  As a fan of dark stories, this reviewer loved it!
