As a young girl
Ayane Akechi, half African American and half Japanese is sent to
Sanctuary to hone her newly found powers. She is a witch in training.
Finally she has found a place where she feels at home. But she is
tortured by a reoccurring nightmare of herself in another life, another
time. She must discover the truth before her past meets her present and
destroys her.
ANCIENT
BEGINNINGS
is a tale of powerful gods and familiars who threaten the very mortal
world. Ayane is a fascinating character. This reader felt her anguish
and feelings of loss of place as a young woman. Now an adult, Ayane must
face enemies that she never knew she had. How can one fight their foes
of the past when they don’t remember them?
This reader
knows nothing about iUniverse other than it is a self publishing
company. Therefore, how the editing of books published at iUniverse is
beyond the knowledge of this reviewer. That being said, there are things
that are distracting in ANCIENT BEGINNINGS. Such as the author,
while gifted with a fine use of wording and a wonderful imagination, has
a favour of using two or three word paragraphs to emphasize a point, a
useful tool in some cases, but in this tale used much too often.
This reader
found the premise of this book very fascinating and the twists and turns
in ANCIENT BEGINNINGS intriguing. This book is recommended for
paranormal fans who like a bit of past lives, witchery, and the world of
the gods all tossed in to one tale. These different aspects used in one
book make for a storyline that is never boring. Had the prose flowed
more smoothly this reader would have found ANCIENT BEGINNINGS to
be one of the best books she has read in a long time.
