Welcome, Ms. Glenn, to Love Romances and More and to our interview.  The readers and I, look forward to this talk about your book, and getting to know you on a more personal level.

Let us start off by telling you a little about this acclaimed author, Andrea Glenn, with a wonderful quote and a short blurb of her book, A Dark Night in Paris.

“Ms. Glenn has a sensuously smooth first person voice that drew this reader in. A Dark Night in Paris is the perfect read for a romantic bedtime story!”

Adrianna Wade is in Paris to forget the man she loved. She has no idea that she is about to begin a journey that will encompass the past present and future. Her true love is about to walk into her world and transform her, body and soul.

Vicente Desiderio is in Paris to seek the woman he loves and has loved for a millennia. He is a vampire, longing to end his loneliness, yearning for the love he had in another time and place. Adrianna Wade.

The romance of Paris fills Adrianna’s senses as she is drawn to the place where she will see Vicente. She is immediately entranced by his outward beauty and mystical aura. She becomes drunk on his energy and cannot control the desire that flows through her body.

Within minutes, he has her. One kiss and she will be Vicente’s forever. Will his hunger for her be too strong? Can he save her from himself? Does Adrianna want to be saved?

Ms. Glenn, if you would be so kind as to tell the readers little about yourself and, what you do when you are not busy writing?

First of all, I want to thank you for allowing me to participate in this interview!

Now, for what I do when I’m not writing…I love to cook, garden, read, work with my creative writing group, take care of my lovely family and most recently, taking care of a litter of puppies.

Could you tell the readers how you came up with the premise for A Dark Night in Paris?

Actually, it came from a nightmare. Ever so often I have a very weird vampire dream, and I’ve done that since I was a little girl. This dream had a more erotic feel, and when I woke it was very fresh on my mind, so I jotted it down in an outline form and as I read back over it I couldn’t help but picture the vampire as Antonio Banderas, or possibly Armand Assante….I was no longer afraid of the dream and decided to write a full manuscript.

Ms. Glenn, who is your great inspiration?

I lost my Father eighteen months ago, and then in early September, I lost my Mother. Both of them always encouraged me to do what I wanted and that I could accomplish anything if I tried hard enough.

Do you have a favorite scene from A Dark Night in Paris?

That is a hard question because I have to scenes that I really like. The first scene that comes to mind is when Adrianna (lead character) sees Vicente (vampire) for the first time. There is a deep and mystical pull that happens between them. The other scene is near the end, and we finally see Vicente for what he is, not a monster, but a lost soul that longs for the love of his past.

What was the hardest scene to develop in A Dark Night in Paris

I write by the seat of my pants, so when I’m trying to make sense of how the couple meet, how they affect each other so strongly and why…well, it’s tough. I have to really slow down and develop the scenes so people can get into my mind and see what I see. When I write, I see the whole picture and it takes me a while to pull myself back in and make what I’m writing actually make sense to the reader.

Do you have a special formulation or technique when you write?

Like I said, I write by the seat of my pants, but there are times that I try to write out an outline, or at least take a few notes. I go through scenes over and over and edit till my eyes burn. If I could, I would work on one book a year. It takes a lot for me to let it go to the editor. It’s like sending off your child to school for the first time.

Ms. Glenn, what is the nicest thing another author said about you?

I guess that it would be that they loved my story. When I sent in my first book to Venus Press, The Coffee Shop, the editor said she loved the story and it made her cry. That was exactly what I wanted to hear. I want to touch people.

Could you describe to the readers how it felt when Venus Press contracted your first book?

I was stunned. I had sent my book to a few places, but I was turned down because it was a very short, and I think it needed a little love and care. I was all over the place with the POV’s. The editor at Venus looked at it and saw a diamond in the rough. From that point on, I was sent suggestions, and the editing process when smoothly, and I can’t tell you how much I learned. It is from that experience that I found out that I really could write and that people really did like what I had to say.

They say everyone has a dream, what is yours?

I would love to write the special novel that is seen everywhere! I want to go to Barnes and Noble and see my book up there with Dean Koontz and Danielle Steele.

How much background research went into A Dark Night in Paris?

Not too much, it was inspired from a dream. I went to a few websites and asked some of the people on my writing group for information on vampires. A lovely lady named Mary Jo in the group gave me a quick tutorial on vampires and I just ran with it.

Ms. Glenn, do you have any special interests or causes you would like to share with the readers?

In light of what happened with my Mother, I would like to say that breast cancer research and prevention is my number one priority as far as causes, and I cannot thank Hospice in both TN and GA for their love and care for my Father and my Mother.

Ms. Glenn, what are your views in regards to sex in the romance field today?

Well, I’m known for writing lemons in my writing group, which, in case you don’t what that is…very hot sexual scenes. I think sex scenes can be a lovely thing if written correctly. I don’t write porn, or sex for the sake of sex. I write romance and love between two people, and I want to show the desire and passion that the couple have for each other. I’m well aware of how many people read this type of work, and either have never experienced this type of passion and longing, or they haven’t in a long while. With my books, they can explore themselves and what it is they want in their own lives or live vicariously in the lives of my characters.

What three words best describe your personality?

Affectionate, Discerning, Sensitive

Would you like to tell the readers about any new or upcoming releases, Ms. Glenn?

In August, Safe Haven was released, and in September, Miami Desire. Both were published with Venus Press.  I’m currently working on two romances, and one thriller that I hope to have out next year.

Ms. Glenn, do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

Don’t give up. If writing is what you want to do…do it. It may take a few tries, but you must realize that with each try, you learn more and more and you will become a much better writer for it.

I would like to thank you Ms. Glenn, for sharing your talent and time with the readers of Love Romances and More.  I truly enjoyed reading A Dark Night in Paris and hope to read more from you soon!

Thank you! I’ve had a wonderful time!!!
