Victoria Gardella De Lacy’s year of mourning comes to an end and it is time to begin to live again. For her it doesn’t mean to attend the typical events of the ton, but to slay vampires. Her largest enemy, Queen Lilith is banned, but her “son” is hungry for power and plans to cause havoc, so Victoria has her work cut out for her. 

This reviewer already loved the first THE REST FALLS AWAY, but RISES THE NIGHT is even better. It is the second book of Ms. Gleason’s Gardella series and this reviewer recommends reading THE REST FALLS AWAY first because the story takes place one year after the events of THE REST FALLS AWAY. 

The historical setting in combination with Vampires makes a wonderful combination that gets the readers hooked on the series. Victoria is a strong and quite unusual heroine and the men in the series are quite mysterious. You don’t really know what to make of them. The story itself is fast-paced and full of action. All of this make the book a real keeper. 

This reviewer is curious how the series will develop and is looking forward to the next instalment, THE BLEEDING DUSK which will be released in February 2008.
